Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for the Southeastern half of Arizona, includes Tucson Forecast Zone

0Shares

Arizona Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective for July 28, 2024

Zones Issued For:  Eastern half of Pima County, including Tucson’s zone – Santa Cruz County – Cochise County – Southern half of Pinal County – Graham and Greenlee County.

Discussion:  A ridge of high pressure is being pushed into New Mexico and Texas today due to the trough of low pressure affecting the West Coast.  As this happens, flow around the western periphery will bring upper dynamics through the watch zone.  Thunderstorms are expected to rapidly develop in this broad upper divergent zone.  Storms today will be capable of large hail, damaging winds, flooding, and isolated tornadoes.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch here at AZWF is issued 0-12 hours before the event is expected.

As always, we take it one day at a time with these events.
