Arizona Weather Force has issued a Tornado Watch effective Saturday, August 9th, 2025, for the following zones;
Issued Zones: Santa Cruz County and Southwestern half of Cochise County … Sierra Vista, you are in a direct target today …
Date Issued: August 9th, 2025 at 5:00am local
Watch Discussion: The earlier issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch from me across Southeastern Arizona will now be upgraded to a Tornado Watch. Strong instability and an upper-level dynamic will bring low-level shear (wind changing with height) across Santa Cruz County and Cochise County. There is a high probably that if you see the severe storms, you will photograph a tornado, especially Sierra Vista, which I think will be the center of the populated dynamics.
Earlier issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch for areas also remains in effect here – https://arizonaweatherforce.com/2025/08/09/severe-thunderstorm-watch-34/
A Tornado Watch is issued at Arizona Weather Force when conditions are possible for severe thunderstorms, covering over 50% of the watch zone, with damaging winds of over 50 mph and large hail in the stronger storms, along with tornado chances. Watches at Arizona Weather Force are private, issued ahead of time to the public by AZWF as the lead-time is extremely important to you.
