Arizona Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective now for Maricopa and Pinal County, through the afternoon and evening.
Discussion: As previously stated, a system coming out of California and Southern Nevada will dive southeast through the region during the watch period. This system will be what will bring more snowfall to the rim/flagstaff areas as well. As it dives further southeast this afternoon, rapid deteriorating conditions for thunderstorms will be in the watch area. Already, we are seeing developing instability over the Phoenix forecast zone this morning. Once the upper dynamics arrive, it will pop severe thunderstorms off, some of them will be supercells capable of hail/damaging winds/and isolated tornadoes.
