Severe Weather Statement Issued For Arizona Metros, includes Phoenix, San Tan, and Tucson June 22, 2024

Arizona Weather Force has issued a Severe Weather Statement effective for the following zones.

Zones issued for:  Mogollon Rim, including Payson through Prescott … Maricopa and Pinal County … Pima County, including Tucson.

Pinal County / San Tan Valley – You are considered my ground zero target for Saturday’s event.

Discussion:  Moisture continues to stream in from Mexico thanks to Alberto.  Already numerous Severe Thunderstorms have occurred across the eastern half of the state, but that is about to change.  As the mid-level flow switches from south to north, Saturday will afford a more northeast-east to westerly flow off the Mogollon Rim.  As this happens, thunderstorms forming along it move into the higher instability zones of the Phoenix and San Tan Valley areas, as well as Tucson.  These outflow boundaries can and will cause damaging winds within the magenta location in the map from this forecast, therefore it is appropriate for Arizona Weather Force to issue a day before alert.

A Severe Weather Statement is issued here at Arizona Weather Force when conditions within the 18–24-hour period will be favorable for widespread severe thunderstorm activity, be it large hail or damaging winds.

I will be back with the FINAL alert issuance in the morning.
