FINAL FORECAST: Pacific Storm Impacts Arizona on Friday; Complete Model Image Suite for Rain, Snow, Flood, Alerts Inside

0Shares

A system coming out of California will impact Arizona on Friday, starting morning for Western state and spreading over the day through the rest of the region.  Some areas will see rain, others snow, others just wind, and even some a risk of thunderstorms so read on for details and to see the extensive model image suite AZWF offers…

A system will move into Western Arizona by Friday morning, spreading across the rest of the state over the day.  Key focus spots with this will be Across Eastern Maricopa and all of Pinal County.  In fact, according to the AZWF projections, Pinal County will be the center of the flooding dynamics so expect heavy rainfall to occur later on your Friday.  Arizona Weather Force has issued a flood warning as a response and the zones are in row 1 in the imaging suite below.

Another key zone will be the trough-axis point in Northwest Arizona around the NV/AZ/CA border and surrounding areas of Bullhead City, Kingman, and Needles, California.  This is a focus spot for thunderstorms on your Friday and probably the only real focus spot for numerous lightning strikes to occur in the cells that form.  Because it s over 24 hours away at the time of this article write-up, thunderstorm watches cannot be calculated so you can take this as your wording.  Since it is during the day, photographers will get good photos in this area, including structure within the storms.  I will keep it up there and not drag this area of divergence into the metros.

The AZWF model image suite below is so you can see your zone region covered.  Keep in mind that these are the most comprehensive images around.  They are touchy to the micro-climate and in the rain and flood risk model, you will only see the expected risk or amount.  Those models actually cancel out the snow so before you saw flood risks covering the mountains?  The new models remove that and make it easier to know what to expect.

I control all the counties in Arizona so there is a lot to say for various areas. The best I can do is let the images below speak for themselves. They are separated into six rows of four. Four zones that I control. If you are in Arizona, you are in one of these. Each is identical so zone 1 is the same on all the rows and so on.  Here is the key to the rows below.  They are extremely detailed.  Zone 1 is NW AZ, 2 is NE AZ, 3 is SW AZ including Phoenix, and 4 is SE AZ including Tucson.

Row 2 – Events Expected by Micro-Climate
Row 3 – Flood Risk
Row 4 – Rain Risk
