A strong pacific storm from the Gulf of Alaska is set to start impacting Northern Arizona by Wednesday, into Central/Southern Arizona Friday into Saturday so read on for details …
A pacific storm system with a name at Southern California Weather Force has been given Major Pacific Storm Gavin, will move into Arizona starting Wednesday. The areas affected first will be the north and northwestern zones. As the system cuts off over the region, Central and Southern Arizona will start to be affected by Friday and lasting through Saturday. This means that the Phoenix/Tucson metro areas will also be affected by it. Not many details at the moment, but I do know that this has a lot of cold air aloft so thunderstorms are indeed possible in these spots. The snow level will hover near 4,000 FT through the event so areas in Prescott and Payson will certainly see accumulating snowfall.
Snow/Rain maps will be available on Thursday for the main Friday to Saturday hit. Finer details will be given before the storm hits so stay tuned …
