Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Issued Zones:  Santa Cruz County, Nogales forecast zone …

Site:  Arizona Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch with tornado wording effective today …

Date:  7/18/22 at 6:00am PT

Forecast: Monsoon moisture remains in Southern Arizona today and more storms are expected to develop, with severe storms due to high instability targeting the Santa Cruz County forecast zones, Nogales.

Storms today will have large hail on the order of 1-2″, which can cause damage.  Furthermore, wind gusts higher than 40 mph will be likely in the strongest cells and flooding is certain as a result.

Addition to all that, surface instability on the order of 1,500 to 2,000 j k/g supports the chance of tornadoes in the watch area, but more so the better chances will be 50 miles south across the border into Mexico, but that is out of my jurisdiction.

Storms will happen again on your Tuesday …

I have no idea if anyone lives in this watch area that follows Arizona Weather Force forecasts, but as always, AZWF forecasts for the rural zones as well …
