Thunderstorm Watch

Issued Zones:  Central to Northern half of Yavapai County … Western half of Coconino County … Mount Trumbull …

Site:  Arizona Weather Force has issued a Thunderstorm Watch effective later this morning through this evening …

Date:  7/24/23 at 9:40am PT

Forecast: An area of vorticity moving through Maricopa county this morning will move north-northwest into the Prescott/Chino Valley watch zones today.  Given the storm motion, the entire population from Prescott into Chino Valley will be under a direct thunderstorm risk, and areas of large hail and damaging winds will be possible.  Storms will extend across the watch area into the Grand Canyon zones as well.

LONG RANGE:  We will continue to see an increase in storms in these areas as we go through end month and into the first half of August.
