Enhanced Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for the metros of Tucson, Pinal, and Phoenix Forecast Zones: July 24, 2024

Arizona Weather Force has issued the Enhanced Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective for July 24, 2024

Zones Issued For:  Maricopa County – Pinal County – Gila County – Graham and Greenlee County – Cochise County – Santa Cruz County – Pima County – Santa Cruz County.

Discussion:  A ridge of high pressure has moved into position to bring the entire Mogollon Rim to erupt with an upper dynamic this afternoon.  When this happens, a strong flow out of the northeast will bring these storms, and outflow to the lower terrain areas.  This looks like that from Tucson, Pinal County, and into the Phoenix forecast areas will see activity.  Whatever cloud cover you have now, ignore it, because it is heading southwest, and all clear for the next wave of this forecast.

Now, again, hit or miss for some … I did take Cochise County out because the hit is to the west.

Severe Thunderstorms can and do produce tornadoes …

MY TARGETS:  Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport – Surprise – Tucson – Pinal County.

THURSDAY:  Let’s try it again, might be a double hitter from today, so prepare again.

Enhanced Severe Thunderstorm Watch is issued 6-12 hours before an event is expected to happen and must be taken seriously if you are in that watch.

As always, we take it one day at a time with these events.
