Arizona Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective for August 1, 2024
Zones Issued For: Eastern half of Pima County, including Tucson – Eastern half of Pinal County – Cochise, Graham, and Greenlee County – Gila County, includes Payson – Mogollon Rim, includes Show Low and Pinetop and basically all of it and Flagstaff – Yavapai County, all, including Prescott.
Discussion: An easterly wave moves through the area yesterday, and another is hitching a ride right behind it. This easterly wave will be the upper dynamic to bring severe thunderstorm development across the watch area. All zones are targeted today, even further north than yesterday in areas like Prescott, Flagstaff, Payson, and Show Low’s forecast zone. Storms will vacate later tonight …
Damaging winds and large hail will be possible with these, along with flooding in the strongest cells.
