Arizona Weather Force has officially upgraded the Long Range Weather Watch issued last week to a Flood Watch and Flood Emergency for the entire state of Arizona, effective October 9th through October 14th, 2025.
Discussion: Hurricane Priscilla is nearing the Baja, Mexico zones, in-which she will be moving into the region during the watch period. Even before she moves in, northeast streaming moisture will enter the region as early as tomorrow, but the deepest will be a multi-day event that will be worse than what was experienced a couple weeks ago.
The Arizona Weather Force model clearly shows an increase from the one 4 days ago, which means emergency level flooding will be happening across Flagstaff, Phoenix, Prescott, Gila County, and parts of Pinal, Pima, Cochise, and Santa Cruz County as well.
This is the strongest flood dynamics the AZWF model has shown, even during the monsoon, which this is not part of anymore. As predicting here at AZWF that the main storm season between fall, winter, and spring would have above average rain, this will serve to build those rainfall totals up to verify that super long range forecast.
People in the flood zones need to stack up on your supplies, sand bags, and also cancel your plans during the watch/emergency period. We do not want to have another repeat of two weeks ago when you were not warned, when here at AZWF you WERE WARNED … You have your answer, I suggest you act on it.
A Flood Watch is issued at Arizona Weather Force when conditions are possible for heavy rain in a short period of time and/or a multi-day rain event, covering over 50% of the watch zone. Flood Watches at Arizona Weather Force are private, issued ahead of time to the public by AZWF as the lead-time is extremely important to you.
