Arizona Weather Force has issued a Thunderstorm Watch for the following areas for Friday, March 8th, 2024: Mogollon Rim from Prescott, Flagstaff, Payson, Show Low, southward through Gila, Safford, and Clifton forecast areas, and as far west as the eastern part of Maricopa County from Rio Verde to Fountain Hills.
The back end of a storm system that has successfully moved through the forecast area will be present during the watch period. Thunderstorms are expected to form in the early afternoon hours, and last into the evening hours. The highest concentration of them will be on the rim through the I-17 corridor west of Payson, east into Payson, and through the Show Low forecast zones, or along the rim.
Storms could produce hail, wind, heavy rain, and funnels within the watch area. Where it snows, thundersnow is also going to be possible.
