Arizona Weather Force has issued the Enhanced Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective for July 25, 2024
Zones Issued For: Maricopa County – Pinal County – Gila County – Santa Cruz County – Pima County – Santa Cruz County – Yavapai County
Discussion: A ridge of high pressure remains in position to bring the entire Mogollon Rim to erupt with an upper dynamic this afternoon. When this happens, a strong flow out of the northeast will bring these storms, and outflow to the lower terrain areas. This looks like that from Tucson, Pinal County, and into the Phoenix forecast areas will see activity, along with the Prescott and Payson zones.
Now, again, hit or miss for some, but a very similar setup as yesterday and likely STRONGER. Tucson you’re still going to get the activity during this week, this should be it. There is also an outlined tornado risk in Southern Arizona today.
Severe Thunderstorms can and do produce tornadoes …
Enhanced Severe Thunderstorm Watch is issued 6-12 hours before an event is expected to happen and must be taken seriously if you are in that watch.
As always, we take it one day at a time with these events.
