Zones Issued For: Pima County, including Tucson’s zone – Santa Cruz County – Pinal County – Eastern half of Maricopa County – Gila County – Graham and Greenlee Counties – Cochise County – Prescott –
Discussion: Today’s storms in Southern Arizona will seem like a cake walk to what this forecast will be. As stated in previous forecasts, the atmosphere will be primed later Wednesday for numerous thunderstorms to form across Southern Arizona during the evening and overnight, pushing northwest along the I-10 corridor through Tucson out of Cochise County, and up through Pinal and Maricopa County. This event is similar and possibly stronger than the last weekend storms that moved through. This will also extend through the overnight through Payson and Prescott’s forecast zone.
Arizona Weather Force will do the official weather alerts for this forecast as timing comes.
Storms will have the chance at isolated tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, and flooding in the strongest cells.
A Severe Weather Statement here at AZWF is issued 24 hours before the event is expected and is the step before the official Severe Thunderstorm Watch is issued, which will be the morning of the event.
As always, we take it one day at a time with these events
