Arizona Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, effective 10am Monday, March 9th, and going through the day, and into the night for the Southern half of Arizona …
A cutoff low that has caused Santa Ana Winds in Southern California over the last few days has positioned itself in Northern Baja, Mexico. As this moves toward the region, strong upper ascent will be present with instability. This will produce the first storm activity in the Yuma region by around 10am, with increasing activity throughout the day for Phoenix, Pinal, and Tucson’s forecast area.
Thunderstorms will contain frequent lightning, damaging winds, and due to the upper lift, chances of tornadoes within the supercells that do form.
